PART III — APPLICATION ARCHITECTURE

The Application Field

Chapter 5

Handbook v1.0Scientific master

5.1 Introduction

The Application Field is the fundamental anatomical unit of the SIRIAM platform.

Unlike conventional topical products, which are primarily identified by their formulation or intended indication, every SIRIAM product is first defined by a standardized anatomical region.

The Application Field therefore establishes the common anatomical reference upon which formulation design, application instructions, clinical documentation and digital resources are built.

Within the SIRIAM platform, no topical formulation exists without a predefined Application Field.

5.2 Definition

An Application Field is a standardized anatomical region designated for the consistent application of a specific SIRIAM topical formulation.

It is defined using reproducible anatomical landmarks rather than subjective descriptions.

Each Application Field serves as the spatial reference for:

clinical documentation.

  • product development;
  • application instructions;
  • Product Passports;
  • anatomical illustrations;
  • educational materials;

5.3 Purpose

The Application Field has four primary objectives.

Anatomical Standardization

To ensure that every user, healthcare professional and educator refers to the same anatomical region.

Reproducibility

To reduce variation in product application by defining clear anatomical boundaries.

Documentation

To provide a fixed reference for all SIRIAM documentation.

Digital Integration

To create a direct connection between the physical product and its digital Product Passport through QR technology.

5.4 Defining an Application Field

Every Application Field is developed according to the same standardized process.

Step 1 — Anatomical Analysis

Identification of the relevant anatomical structures.

Examples include:

surface landmarks.

Step 2 — Boundary Definition

The anatomical limits of the field are defined using reproducible landmarks.

Examples include:

anatomical reference planes.

Step 3 — Surface Mapping

The anatomical information is translated into a practical skin surface that can be consistently recognized.

Step 4 — Clinical Documentation

The field receives standardized documentation and graphical representation.

  • spinal segments;
  • peripheral nerves;
  • plexuses;
  • fascial regions;
  • muscles;
  • bony landmarks;
  • muscle borders;
  • joint lines;

5.5 Components of an Application Field

Every Application Field contains the same documentation elements.

Anatomical Description

A concise description of the anatomical region.

Anatomical Boundaries

Clearly defined superior, inferior, medial and lateral borders.

Surface Landmarks

Visible or palpable anatomical references.

Regional Structures

Relevant anatomical structures located within the field.

Examples:

connective tissue.

Metameric Association

Reference to the relevant spinal segment(s) and related anatomical framework where applicable.

Anatomical Illustration

A standardized graphical representation of the Application Field.

  • muscles;
  • nerves;
  • vessels;
  • fascia;

5.6 Naming Convention

To ensure consistency throughout the platform, each Application Field follows a standardized naming system.

Each field includes:

version number.

Example:

Application Field: CTO

Region: Cervicothoracic Junction

Version: AF-CTO-1.0

This convention facilitates documentation, digital indexing and future revisions.

  • official name;
  • abbreviated identifier;
  • anatomical region;

5.7 Relationship with the Product

One Application Field corresponds to one standardized anatomical region.

A topical formulation is subsequently developed specifically for that region.

Therefore, the relationship always follows the same sequence:

Application Field

Application Concept

Topical Formulation

Product Passport

This sequence remains identical throughout the SIRIAM platform.

5.8 Relationship with the User

For the end user, the Application Field serves one primary purpose:

to identify where the formulation should be applied.

The user is not expected to understand the complete anatomical rationale.

Instead, the Product Passport translates the anatomical information into practical guidance using:

QR-supported digital content.

This approach maintains scientific consistency while ensuring accessibility.

  • illustrations;
  • simplified anatomical descriptions;
  • step-by-step instructions;

5.9 Scalability

The Application Field model has been designed as a scalable system.

New anatomical regions can be added without modifying the existing documentation structure.

Every future Application Field automatically adopts the same standardized documentation format, preserving consistency across the platform.

5.10 Future Digital Integration

Each Application Field is intended to function as a digital knowledge hub.

Future digital resources may include:

research references.

This digital integration allows the anatomical documentation to evolve independently of the physical product.

  • interactive anatomical illustrations;
  • three-dimensional anatomical models;
  • educational videos;
  • Product Passport updates;
  • clinical documentation;

Chapter Summary

The Application Field is the anatomical cornerstone of every SIRIAM product.

By standardizing anatomical regions through clearly defined boundaries, documentation and illustrations, the Application Field provides the stable reference upon which formulations, Product Passports and clinical workflows are consistently developed.

DEEL 5 — Application Concept

Objective Measurement

DEEL 9 — Clinical Workflow & Evaluation

Daar kun je dan alle stappen bundelen:

follow-up.

  • onderhoud
  • vervolgprotocol
  • aanvullende producten (bv. InflammaSacra)
  • SRST-screening;
  • EMG-metingen;
  • keuze van het toepassingssegment;
  • selectie van het juiste SIRIAM-product;
  • herbeoordeling;
