SIRIAM Platform role

Within the SIRIAM Platform, Squalane is classified as a Regional Signature Component.

Unlike the Structural & Dermal Support Core, Release Core and Integration Core ingredients, Squalane is incorporated selectively into regional formulations according to their intended neurodermal objectives.

Within the SIRIAM formulation philosophy, Squalane serves as both a functional pharmaceutical excipient and a biologically compatible lipid. Scientific rationale

Squalane is the fully hydrogenated derivative of squalene, a naturally occurring triterpene that forms an important component of human sebum.

Whereas squalene is highly susceptible to oxidation, hydrogenation converts it into the chemically stable molecule squalane, making it considerably more suitable for pharmaceutical and dermatological formulations.

Modern pharmaceutical-grade Squalane is predominantly obtained from:

sugarcane fermentation;

olive oil;

amaranth seed oil;

other sustainable botanical sources.

Experimental investigations demonstrate multiple biological properties, including:

enhancement of epidermal barrier integrity;

reduction of transepidermal water loss (TEWL);
