SIRIAM Platform role

Within the SIRIAM Platform, Copaiba Oil functions as a Structural & Dermal Support Core Component that contributes both to the lipid architecture of the formulation and to overall dermal compatibility.

Unlike Regional Signature Components, Copaiba Oil is incorporated as part of the common formulation backbone shared across multiple SIRIAM preparations. Its inclusion reflects the platform philosophy of establishing a stable, skin-compatible lipid environment before introducing region-specific differentiation.

Within the Release–Integration architecture, Copaiba Oil is regarded as a universal support ingredient. Its primary purpose is to strengthen the common vehicle rather than to define anatomical identity or treatment phase.

Scientific rationale

Copaiba Oil is a natural oleoresin obtained from several Copaifera species native to South America. It contains a complex mixture of sesquiterpenes and diterpenes, with β-caryophyllene representing one of its principal bioactive constituents.

Experimental research has demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity in both in vitro and animal models. β-Caryophyllene has attracted particular scientific interest because it acts as a selective agonist of the cannabinoid CB₂ receptor, a receptor involved in modulation of inflammatory and immune responses.

Topical studies suggest that Copaiba Oil may support skin comfort and contribute to epidermal recovery in certain experimental settings. However, human clinical studies remain relatively limited, and differences in botanical origin, extraction methods and formulation composition complicate direct comparison between studies.

Within pharmaceutical formulations, Copaiba Oil is also valued as a stable botanical lipid with favourable spreading characteristics and excellent compatibility with other lipid-phase ingredients.

Current scientific evidence primarily evaluates Copaiba Oil as an individual botanical ingredient or within conventional dermatological preparations. At present, no published clinical studies have investigated its incorporation into region-specific neurodermal formulation systems such as the SIRIAM Platform. Accordingly, its inclusion reflects both its favourable pharmaceutical characteristics and the architectural design philosophy of the platform rather than established evidence for region-specific neurodermal application.

Future development may adjust concentration according to vehicle optimisation while maintaining its role within the common platform architecture.
