SIRIAM Platform role
Within the SIRIAM Platform, Silicea Gel functions as a fundamental Structural & Dermal Support Core Component.
Unlike ingredients incorporated primarily for biological activity, Silicea Gel contributes predominantly to the physical architecture of the formulation. It supports the structural integrity, consistency and application characteristics of the emulsion while simultaneously contributing to the common dermal support environment shared throughout the platform.
Within the SIRIAM formulation philosophy, Silicea Gel also serves as a stabilising matrix capable of creating a homogeneous environment for both hydrophilic and lipophilic active ingredients. Consequently, it is regarded as one of the key architectural building blocks of the platform rather than as a Regional Signature Component.
Within the Release–Integration concept, Silicea Gel remains a universal structural ingredient and is not associated with any specific anatomical region.
Scientific rationale
Colloidal silica has long been used within pharmaceutical and dermatological formulations because of its favourable rheological properties, chemical stability and broad compatibility with topical delivery systems.
Experimental research demonstrates that silica-based gels contribute to water retention, viscosity control and formulation stability. Depending on the formulation, silica may also influence film formation on the skin surface, thereby improving product consistency and application characteristics.
Silica-containing topical preparations have been investigated in wound dressings, dermatological gels and cutaneous topical formulations. However, most published studies evaluate silica as a pharmaceutical excipient rather than as the principal biologically active ingredient.
Current evidence therefore supports the pharmaceutical value of Silicea Gel primarily through its contribution to formulation performance, stability and dermal compatibility rather than through specific pharmacological effects.
Importantly, existing scientific literature evaluates silica within conventional topical formulations. At present, no published studies specifically investigate Silicea Gel as a structural matrix within region-specific neurodermal formulation systems such as the SIRIAM Platform. Its incorporation therefore reflects pharmaceutical engineering principles and ongoing platform development rather than established evidence for this specific architectural application.

Silicea Gel demonstrates excellent compatibility with standardized airless dispensing systems.
No special packaging adaptations beyond standard pharmaceutical protection against contamination are currently required.
Current role within the platform
Silicea Gel represents one of the principal architectural components of the SIRIAM formulation platform.
Rather than functioning as a region-specific ingredient, it provides structural continuity across multiple magistral formulations by supporting viscosity, formulation homogeneity and pharmaceutical stability.
Its inclusion contributes to the reproducibility and standardisation of the platform as a whole.

Current pharmaceutical development supports continued incorporation of Silicea Gel as a universal structural matrix component.
Future optimisation may include:
refinement of viscosity characteristics;
optimisation of spreadability;

As future formulations evolve, Silicea Gel is expected to remain one of the common structural foundations of the SIRIAM Platform.
